Town of Cornwall Community Pool

Join Us for an Open House at the Riverlight Park Pool!

Since being awarded a $5.58 million NY SWIMS grant in December, the Town has been hard at work developing plans for the new pool facility at Riverlight Park.

Residents are invited to stop by for an informal, drop-in gathering to tour the existing pool complex and learn more about what’s in store for the replacement project. We’ll have renderings and site plans of the proposed new pool, along with project details and anticipated costs.

The Town Supervisor and other Town representatives will be on hand to answer questions, provide additional information, and hear from residents as we move this transformative project forward.

Stop by, take a look, and chat with us about the future of the pool!

Pool Open House Postponed — New Date TBD

Due to the forecasted thunderstorms on Thursday evening, the Pool Open House has been postponed. We will share a new date as soon as it is confirmed.

Pool Open House Postponed

For generations, the Cornwall community pool has been an important part of summer in our community. Our existing pool and supporting infrastructure are aging, and the Town now has a significant opportunity to replace them with a new, modern community pool complex.

The Town of Cornwall has been awarded a $5.587 million NY SWIMS grant from New York State, covering approximately 80% of the eligible project cost. The project would replace the existing pool and include a larger modern pool, new piping, filtration and electrical systems, upgraded decking and fencing, and a new bathhouse with restrooms, showers and changing facilities.

Preliminary plans also envision a more accessible and family-friendly facility, including family changing rooms, outdoor showers, improved parking and drop-off areas, and updated site infrastructure.

Based on current estimates and including appropriate project contingencies, the Town’s anticipated local share would be approximately $2.5 million, financed over approximately 20 years.

Based on current assessed values and tax rates, the estimated annual property-tax impact of financing the project would be approximately:

$31.98 per year for a home assessed at $300,000 — about $2.67 per month

$42.64 per year for a home assessed at $400,000 — about $3.55 per month

This represents an opportunity to leverage nearly $5.6 million in State funding to replace an aging community asset and build a pool facility designed to serve Cornwall families for decades.

Before moving into final design and construction, we want to hear from you.

With approximately 80% of the project supported by State funding, are you ready to make this investment and move forward with building a new Cornwall community pool?
